We often want to add attachments to our bulk mailings or newsletters: PDFs with presentations or our service prices, videos, or even very large images. Although Mail<\/span>relay<\/span><\/strong> lets you attach files to your newsletters, we strongly recommend not doing so, for three reasons:<\/p>\n\n

1. Anti-spam systems penalize bulk emails that include attachments.<\/p>\n\n

2. You can fill up your recipients’ mailboxes or make your email load slowly. Keep in mind, in particular, that nowadays your email may well be opened on a mobile device.<\/p>\n\n

3. You may use up your Mail<\/span>relay<\/span><\/strong> account credit unnecessarily, since one email is counted for every 100 KB of the email’s size.<\/p>\n\n

When you need to send a file with your newsletter, it’s better to upload it to a web space and then add a download link to the body of the message. All you need to do is upload it to the www<\/span> directory on your website’s FTP<\/span>. For example, if you want to attach dossier.pdf<\/span>, connect to your FTP<\/span> with your connection details using Filezilla<\/span> or another FTP client, and once the file is uploaded you can link to this URL:<\/p>\n\n

Replace midominio.com<\/span> with your website and dossier.pdf<\/span> with the name of your file.<\/p>\n\n

If you don’t have access to your website’s FTP, you can use an online storage service such as Dropbox or Google Drive.<\/p>\n\n\n

A. To upload the file you want to attach to Dropbox<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Create an account at www.dropbox.com and log in to access your online space. Click the \u201cPublic<\/strong>\u201d folder, click \u201cUpload<\/strong>\u201d at the top, select the file on your computer and then confirm:<\/p>\n\n

Once the file has been uploaded, right-click it and select \u201cCopy public link<\/strong>\u201d. You now have a link to the file that you can insert in your email, so recipients can download it from your Dropbox without it being attached.<\/p>\n\n

B. To upload the file you want to attach to Google Drive<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Create a Google account. If you have a Gmail account, that will do. Log in and go to https:\/\/drive.google.com. Click the \u201cUpload<\/strong>\u201d button on the left, right next to the \u201cCreate<\/strong>\u201d button. Select the file on your computer and then confirm. You’ll see it uploaded:<\/p>\n\n

Right-click the file and select \u201cShare<\/strong>\u201d:<\/p>\n\n

Where it says Private, click \u201cChange<\/strong>\u201d. Select the first option, Public on the web, and click Save:<\/p>\n\n

You can now copy the URL shown in the sharing link field.<\/p>\n\n
