What is CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) and what are their duties?
CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) is the person in charge of a company’s marketing department. Their job is to oversee the planning, development and execution of the company’s marketing and advertising initiatives.
Reporting directly to the CEO (Chief Executive Officer), it is their responsibility to implement marketing strategies capable of generating revenue and increasing sales, all with a view to making the company competitive and positioning it with an advantage over the competition.
1. Responsibilities of a CMO
A CMO is a professional with a great deal of responsibility in any company’s organization chart, which means that their skills are very diverse and, depending on the type of company, can vary. But these are some of the tasks that all CMOs usually have to work with:
- Developing a solid marketing strategy to increase sales and brand awareness.
- Managing internal communication between different departments.
- Researching the market to make the right decisions for the company in relation to the competition.
- Executing a pricing strategy.
- Use team leadership skills to help the team achieve its objectives.
- Manage the marketing budget wisely.
- Have control and knowledge of distribution channels.
- Unify, control and enhance the brand image.
