About Save the Children

Save the Children is the largest independent global organization  working with children. They work with over 120 countries, saving lives, providing protection to children and defending their rights (125 million children around the world).

In Spain, they focus their efforts on providing for the needs of children in poverty (offering educational support, psychotherapy, specialized therapies, psychomotor, providing what they need to go to school, food or hygiene, etc.)

For all children living in poverty or social exclusion, outside Spain, the NGO is always working so thousands of children under five years will not lose their lives every day, mostly from preventable or treatable causes. Its educational programs reached more than 8 million children in 2012.

Objectives

Save the Children needed a system that was easier to use for their email marketing campaigns, but they also needed to reduce the costs of the newsletters, because they send several mailings to keep in Contact in a personal way with all those who collaborate with the organization.

Mailrelay also has a social project to help various NGOs around the world and this organization needed a complete system, so that Save the Children can send the campaigns for free. So they can allocate these resources to improve the infrastructure of the organization to continue helping children around the world.

The NGO also needed to stop using its internal software, because this system needed highly skilled personnel to create and send the newsletters.

Actions taken

So that Save the Children can properly send the campaigns to target subscribers, the Mailrelay customer service department contacted the NGO staff to help set up the newsletters within the correct standards, so that the emails would get  directly in the inbox of each subscribers / members of the organization.

Mailrelay also created custom designs, to prevent newsletters from being detected as SPAM, as with this type of mailing, usually there are several false positives. Likewise, a wide variety of pre-defined templates fully editable, reduced the time to compose and send each of the campaigns, with a faster and more flexible software.

Moreover, all this technical support in creating newsletters doesn’t involve any cost for Save the Children.

Results

Thanks to Mailrelay it was possible to improve the sending process, adapting the system to their needs, saving time between different departments involved in the planning process of email marketing campaigns. The mony we managed to save by not paying for the email marketing packages, allowed the NGO to concentrate our resources in working with children, which after all, is our most important goal.
