About the Government of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands

It is the youngest of Argentina’s provinces. Inhabited for approximately 10,000 years by several indigenous groups: the Selknam or Ona, the Yámana or Yaghan, the Alacalufe or Kawésqar, and the Haush or Manekenk.

The first Europeans to explore the territory were the sailors of the Spanish expedition led by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520.

It is the southernmost province of the Argentine Republic, located in the Patagonian region. It was organized as a National Territory until 1991, the year it was granted provincial status.

On May 19, 1909, a decree established the administrative division of the national territories at the time, setting the boundaries of the Islas de los Estados Department (part of the Territory of Tierra del Fuego), comprising “the islands of the same name and all others located in the Atlantic under the rightful sovereignty of the Argentine Republic”.

It is a province rich in natural resources and with a very high historical and cultural wealth.

Objectives

The goal was to have an email marketing platform capable of reliably managing the communications that the Government of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands sends to its citizens, ensuring that all of them land in citizens’ inboxes.

Since these are communications of various kinds, full of information relevant to citizens’ proper civic engagement, sending each of these newsletters doesn’t end once it’s been sent — advanced statistics were needed to know for certain whether subscribers had opened the newsletter sent to them, something offered by the statistics engine of Mailrelay and that allows for thorough tracking of each mailing’s activity once it lands in each recipient’s inbox.

Actions Taken

Since this was the first time the Government of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands had tackled mass newsletter sending, our support team guided those responsible for the task to ensure great effectiveness from the start — in fact, these mailings enjoy an open rate above 50%. This makes clear that, since these are official mailings, their database is 100% verified and properly maintained and kept up to date, as expected of a government body.

Optimizing the newsletter design wasn’t necessary, since the HTML designs they send to their citizens are already polished and high quality, both visually and in the information they provide.

Mailrelay reached out to the major ISPs (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) to ensure free delivery of the emails sent by this client, since it is a government account, which makes its results excellent.

Results

The results obtained by the Government of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands can only be described as successful, mainly because they achieve optimal delivery across all the servers that manage their subscribers’ email, whether free webmail accounts or corporate mail servers.

Without a doubt, this first experience sending large volumes of email reliably and quickly has shown how easy it can be to get started with mass email communications when working alongside a company with extensive experience.

An experience that hasn’t been difficult in any respect — after all, Mailrelay is one of the pioneering Spanish-language email marketing platforms, with more than 10 years of experience.

“We came to Mailrelay in the most casual way possible (searching the internet for the most popular email marketing services), but the high satisfaction rate their users show on social media, along with the references many of their customers give about their services, initially drew us to try them out. Our mailings have worked very well at all times, and the statistics give us results that let us assess the impact we’ve achieved. The support we’ve received from the Mailrelay advisors has been excellent, fast and effective.”
