Employer branding

What is employer branding?

Employer branding is the brand image a company projects, but not just to its customers or the general public. It’s the image directed at current employees, as well as the perception prospective candidates (new workers) have of the company.

In other words, employer branding is the strategy used to build and maintain a positive company image, targeting both current and potential employees.

1. How to build employer branding

The goal is to maximize current employee satisfaction while attracting new talent to the company. That’s why you need to apply these concepts to successfully create an employer branding strategy:

– Know your ideal candidate. You must clearly define the type of candidate you want to attract with your employer branding strategy. This starts with understanding what your desired talent is looking for so you can offer an attractive value proposition.

– Build on solid foundations. Don’t make empty promises to your potential candidates. Base your strategy on showcasing your company’s values and how appealing it is to work there. Never lie.

– Foster a good work environment. It might sound like a cliché to say your workers should be your best ambassadors, but it’s the absolute truth. They know the conditions, benefits, and atmosphere perfectly, so their satisfaction will naturally attract new talent to the company.

– Everyone on board. The best employer branding strategy won’t succeed if the whole company isn’t involved in achieving it. Create loyalty policies and various incentives that make you relevant to talented professionals, ultimately attracting them.

– Leverage social media. It’s an excellent vehicle for spreading your company’s values and showing authenticity. You can use it to highlight employee satisfaction, showcase how you work, share your messages with a broad audience, and get their feedback.

2. Advantages of employer branding

Boosting your brand image for current and potential employees doesn’t just positively impact these professionals; the actions you take will inevitably have a positive influence on the company’s own results and the image it projects.

Therefore, having a solid employer branding strategy in a company offers several distinct advantages, some of which include:

  • Increases employee motivation and commitment.
  • Creates a better work environment, leading to higher productivity.
  • Reduces staff turnover and/or retains employees for longer periods.
  • Increases employee satisfaction.
  • Attracts more candidates interested in the company.
  • Enhances the company’s prestige.
  • Reduces workplace stress and sick leave.
  • Promotes a positive image to customers and suppliers.
  • Becomes a differentiating factor against the competition.
